Look the Other Way

Look the other way
like you did the other day.
You don't got to pay no mind,
it happens here all the time.
Look the other way
this ain't a game - we don't play
So go on, look the other way.
They locked the kids in a cage,
and yeah it put you in a rage.
You rearranged your grocery list
and found out where El Paso is.
You're too scared to grab a gun.
You drop a dollar and away you run.
You call it a day, look the other way.
A football player stands his ground
No more Nike in your town.
Your neighbors shot down in her car.
The flowers come from near and far.
They hold the vigil right outside
but you don't have the time,
Its Monday Night, look the other way.
They brought their guns to the state.
The cops just stood there at the gate.
They said they don't want a mask.
It happened all so fast.
While you're walking down the street,
tear gas - at your feet.
"I CAN'T BREATHE" - look the other way.
Stocks are boomin' record high,
but we're barely gettin' by.
No one here has the cash.
I wonder how long we can last.
I see you raise a nazi flag
and you wonder why we're mad
so go on, look the other way.

We walked the streets with his fight.
They gunned us down in daylight.
They gathered 'round as we said,
"Now you know freedom is dead."
Bring out the machine
sharpen the blade so it sings.
Raise the gallows pole.
No coins for the river's toll.
We gave up on the terms.
Our future is set to burn.
Now its time for them to burn.
They fashioned us a sword
while they're choking on their horde.
They piled all the wealth.
In our sickness and their health.
They work us to the bone
so you'll always feel alone.
Now its time for them to fall.
They raped us of our dreams.
They split us at the seams.
We're clawing just to breathe.
How much more do they need?
The modern Rome will burn.
Our parents will have to learn.
Now it's time for them to fall.

The Ceiling

I stare at my ceiling cuz I woke up on the floor.
I decided I don't want to get drunk anymore.
So I drank a glass of water and I got up off my ass.
I put on a record - started listening to Crass.
"Do they owe us a living" or do they owe us our lives?
Then I switched it up and I put on Thunderthighs.
Did you really know that Kimya Dawson saved my life,
at the time when my hope hung on the edge of a knife?
So I sharpened up my wits and I pulled them from the stone.
I cook for all my friends so they'll never feel alone.
We ended this year without a hand full of my friends.
But I know I'll get to see em all together in the end.
I miss them every day and I hope they're watching me,
because without all of their guidance I don't who I'd be.
So I'll finish this song and laugh because its done.
Because we're all still punk rock and we're all still having fun.
I'm still a little scared of their nuclear wars.
But I try to laugh it off cuz death cant take me anymore.
I guess I know by now that no one really cares.
When I say anarchist phrases all they ever do is stare.
No on wants to change, everyone's just so content.
So could you please stop dancing cuz thats not my intent.
By now I could care less if there's a cell phone at my show.
Cuz they might be calling friends or they might just need to go.
Or they may have heard the news that a friend of theirs just died.
If its none of the above, well I guess I'll let it slide
What we need is no more fights and to help eachother out
To be there for our friends if they ever start to doubt.
So lets all grow some gardens and lets share what we grow.
Lets invite all our friends after work to the show.
We'll all gather together for a round of cokes or beers
and we'll all have fun together cuz we've got nothing to fear.
