For Emma Goldman's birthday I danced around my kitchen,
Is this the closest thing I'll get to being in a revolution?
Cuz I'm still a little scared of their nuclear wars
And often times I wonder if we can prevent that anymore.
But if one day can get me dancing, maybe thats all we need.
This world could use more folks like us, so lets get out and plant some seeds.
I know you're tired Comrade, but give it all you got.
It doesn't matter if we win or lose, it just matters how hard we fought.
The sun will shine tomorrow - at least we know that now...
The times indeed are changing but we've got to show them how.
We'll show them like El Movimiento, or like El Tigre (break the courthouse door)
We'll fight beside Mrs. Vasquez 'til we're too old to go to War.
I can't write a love song, its just not in my heart.
A younger me would get teared up, but he and I have grown apart.
Instead i'll stay at home for hours with my books and my guitar
and write a song for you to listen to on roadtrips in your car.
If I can make you smile, it all will be complete.
Chaos rules us all my friend, but i will not admit defeat.

I'm Not Ready to Quit
03:20
|
|||
I left my home and I went downtown
the stores are all closed and theres no one around.
The streets are so quiet but they're still covered in trash.
There's no one waiting at the coffee shop
Where I used to see my friends but now there's only a cop.
They got so mad because some folks put up some signs.
The Fiestas been cancelled - there'll be no queen to crown
theres nothing goin on in this stupid town.
but if we get another case they'll probably lock us all down.
*And I'm so tired this is making me sick, but I ain't done yet, I'm not ready to quit. We're gonna make it through this and so will you.
I walked down your street with my hood on my head.
The patches on my vest are gettin ripped to shreds
The neighborhood peaks and stares behind their blinds.
My friends lost their jobs and they've got no cash,
but all we care about is whos wearing a mask
you don't get to tell me you care about us.
Now the beers runnin low we gotta get to the store
but its too late - we cant go out anymore.
If we're out past curfew they'll throw us punks in the tank.
*
I put a Filth record on and I grabbed my guitar,
I've been saving so much money by avoiding the bar.
When they finally open up, I probably wont be back...
... no I'm just kiddin',
My gardens looking good, everything is commin' up.
My buddy stooped by but he stayed in his truck.
It's good to see my friends when we're feeling so down.
i said "they're marching down south and they're brining their guns
while we're on the front lines haulin' 16 tons"
When this is all over man, we gotta catch up...

This Year has been Hell
02:15
|
|||
This year started off without two of my friends
Life can take us anywhere but every day I think of them
Our friends are lost but they're never gone
They live on in all our songs.
If that day comes when you're not around
I'll just play my guitar all over town
*Everybody dies but at least they get to live
Every single one of us has something great to give
And if you ever doubt yourself
just call me up I'll be there to help
because I know this year has been Hell.
I'm just a lonely folk song singer,
That's all I have to say
And if you see me playing tonight you don't even have to pay
We're all Hollow Men - we're in the thick of it
We've got to have fun while the fires lit
Life's a match - it's going out so fast
Make it all worthwhile, make it last.
